Things to Do
No matter what time of year you choose to stay at Sierra Pines Lodge, there are activities galore and places to see.

Big Lake Recreational area is approximately 56 miles from the Lodge and is considered one of the White Mountain’s best fishing lakes due to its size. The catch rates for rainbow, brook and cutthroat trout is best in spring, during late April and May after the winter ice thaws.

This 100-acre lake is great for beginning to advanced anglers. There are also 75 camping sites located at the lake site that rent 14’ aluminum Crestliner boats. This lake has the best Walleye fishing in Arizona, and also is stocked with rainbow trout, bluegill, green sunfish, smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Wildlife spotting is all but assured: herons, bobcats, beavers, mountain lions, deer, elk and raptors.

This 150-acre lake is nestled within Arizona’s White Mountains. The Lake is well stocked with large and smallmouth bass, walleye, pike and trout. You can camp among the tall pines and hike along the lake at a cool 6,300 feet in elevation. There is year-round camping, fishing, picnicking, boating and wildlife viewing.

Show Low Bluff Trail is a 1-mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Show Low that features a river. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from March through November. Dogs are also able to use this trail.

This is a 3.7 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Pinetop-Lakeside, which features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from April through September.

This museum is located in downtown Show Low and is truly a trip back in time. The Show Low Room tells the story of Show Low, from its native ancestors in the 1100s - 1500s, to the present. As you enter the Military Room, you are greeted by uniforms from the Marine Corps, Navy, Army and Air Force. Navajo Code Talkers are honored for their contribution to the war effort with the use of their native languages, creating the “code”.

Sunrise Ski Resort is located near Greer, Arizona, approximately 42 miles from The Lodge. The resort consists of three mountains: Sunrise Park, Cyclone Circle and Apache Peak. There are 69 trails within the resort, with one terrain park. The top elevation is 11,000 feet, with the base elevation at 9,200 feet. The ski-able area is 800 acres and there are 8 ski lifts at the resort. In the event that the snow level is less than adequate, there are 10 state-of-the-art TechnoAlpine Snow Cannons at the resort, so no waiting for the next big storm.

There are several golf courses available to the public. Bison Golf Club is located in the majestic White Mountains of Show Low and is a semi-private course offering a stunning combination of 18 picturesque golf holes, several of which snake through tall pine trees while other meander through a spacious grand meadow. Silver Creek Golf Club borders the beautiful White Mountain Lake in Show Low. This is an 18-hole championship course and features a par 3, 19th hole for play-offs and practice, plus a 10,000 sq. ft. putting green and a 280-yard driving range with actual target greens set at 100, 150 and 200 yards. Torreon Golf Club is located in Show Low and features two courses, the Tower Course, which features lush, rolling fairways and rock outcroppings bordering numerous greens and seven lakes, which offer distinct challenges on many holes, as does the aggressive use of bunkers, strategically placed throughout the golf course. Both courses are open for play from April through November and closed for the month of December through March.

For those who enjoy the outdoors and love taking in the beautiful scenery of the White Mountains, the trail systems located within the White Mountains are plentiful and can be used by ATV’s and UTV’s, dirt bikes, mountain bikes, hikers, equestrians and cross-country skiers.

The White Mountain Family Fun Park is located in Lakeside, Arizona and is absolutely “the place to play”, with arcades, laser maze, 18-hole mini-golf and two go-cart tracks. There are party rooms available and food can be purchased at the Fun Park.

There is June’s annual Show Low Days, with a Derby Down the Deuce, an arts and craft festival, weiner dog race, itty bitty Olympics and rides for kids of all ages, including live entertainment throughout the day and great bands in the evening. Patriotism reigns during July 4th weekend, with one of the state’s biggest parades, an art show and a Farmer’s Market by day and fireworks by night.
